one step
Rocky Mountain, overlooking Lake Wānaka. New Zealand. 20th March 2026, 1.39p.m.
I step
under a full moon
lighting the way
my feet
walk towards
underneath, in?
heaven
Stars
a breeze
touches hairs on my arm
i step
ferret screams
rabbit runs
river flows
foot on stepping stone
pines and smoke in air
Moon
Full
Heart
Pull
All this
on my way to the cabin, over there
to make my 5.15 am coffee.
Lake Wānaka. Low, but nonetheless still lovely, due to dry February and March.
21st March 2026. 7.59a.m.

Hi Jo, l love how your body’s senses capture the physicality while the other ponders the expanse. Isn’t the moon glorious, l am currently away camping enjoying the noise of the surf, peering out at the light of the 5.55am moon, ready to make a coffee. Grateful to be alive. Sending lots of love. 🙏🏼😊💖🌊🌀
Oh, this goes right under my skin, stepping into heaven, among the stars, under a full moon, what a setting to enjoy an early morning coffee... and so inspiring to write an early morning poem, too.
