Thanks, Jo…Yes…to live in the moment is to live where the moment lives. I was reminded of my five years living in Fairbanks, Alaska, in January, going to lunch on the University campus just as it was getting light; when I left my next class at 2:00 pm, it was already dark. The transition from winter to summer was like living in two different worlds. And it was. ‘’
Hi Jo, yes, what a gift - your musings and connection to your gorgeous country makes me smile … and warms the heart, even on the frostiest of mornings. The seas are warm where l am atm, a bit strange 🤣🇻🇳 Cheers 🙏🏼🖤
Hi, Jo, I really relished my mind excursion into your current fascinating world of total fogginess. I've experienced similar in the Blue Mountains (NSW), the mysterious feeling of enclosure while being out of doors, nothing visible more than a metre away, everything familiar unfamiliar. But not as a semi-permanent reality, as yours is apparently. I'm wondering ow long has it been going on? What I also appreciate so much is the evocation of loving intimacy with Place, topophilia, present in most of your writing. I think of it as the foundational quality of sane living.
Thank you for your wonderful comment Pauline. Lovely to see you here.
Yes that familiar - unfamiliar - so true.
We get an inversion of some sorts every year, usually in June but sometimes later as it is now. Sometimes it can last 2-3 weeks, sometimes just a few days. We seem to have been in and out of it without not much of sunshine for a month or so this time. The sun will come out again though and for now we just hunker down and deal with it.
I really appreciate you seeing my loving intimacy with Place - topophilia! That is exactly where my writing usually stems from. I hope all is well with you Pauline. Love xx❤️
Wanaka inversion is kind of invitation to the town... clean compared with the brown smear, the dodgy cocktail over Edinburgh for example seen from Soutra on a winter's morning.
Great shot of mountain colour up close in the mist... reminds me of Scotland; then there is another word, the haar when the North Sea breathes on us, a word about the shortness of summer.
Above the inversion. In the cloud. Winter growth is full of colour for those whose choose to see it. Keep reflecting all those different feelings for light Jo. They roll of the tongue of heart. Keep shining and climbing. Staying to enjoy the real view. Blessings 🙏❤️
Once upon a time a small poet cloud spoke. Sensed a change in the weather. But love still remains, just not the same. Poet cloud explains.
The willow walks over the leaves with feathered wings. The sun hides behind others when the bridge is broken. Clouds pocket rain. Greedy, hoards rain that sparkled in light. Grew larger and the world rose dark purple envious. Hold water, then release, wish to be something else. When on cloud nine--you feel great. Clouds are so numbered to the altitudes they attain. Nine is highest. That person is floating well above worldly cares.

Thanks for sharing Galen. That kind of living can be so disorientating! It was similar when I lived in Sweden. Have a wonderful day. xx

Thanks Philip. Oh yes I remember that word haar from various Scottish novels and from my time living in Edinburgh.
This part of NZ certainly bears a resemblance to Scotland, particularly further south of Wanaka.
Have a lovely day. ❤️
Ah yes, Auld Reekie... cleaned up a bit and leafy in parts.

Thank you Jamie. Hope you are enjoying your own shade of light in your Northern Summer. ❤️🙏

Just a reminder: Cloud Nine
